270 degree projection

Challenge

Our client asked us to create an immersive booth with a diameter of 6 meters with a 270-degree projection in a room with a ceiling height of only 3 meters. The main challenge was to maximize the image height despite this constraint. In addition, the installation had to operate autonomously without the constant presence of a video technician, while allowing users to easily control the projection via a remote control.

Solution

Step 1: Identifying Needs

We started with a detailed analysis of Loxam's specific needs, including the need to create a high-quality immersive experience and the ceiling height constraint.

Step 2: Choosing Equipment

To meet the technical challenges, we chose to use four ultra-short throw projectors. This allowed us to maximize image height while maintaining optimal projection quality.

Step 3: Automation and Control

In order to guarantee autonomous use of the installation, we have implemented an OSC (Open Sound Control) control system via a tablet. This system allows Loxam users to control the playback, pause and stop functions of the projection in a simple and intuitive way.

Step 4: Mapping Software

We selected Heavy M software to handle the edge blending and warping required to create a curved display. Heavy M was chosen for its ability to provide an immersive visual experience and integrate easily with other hardware.

Step 5: Integrating the Proxima Media Server

After choosing the software, we opted for the Proxima media server because of its competitive cost and technical capabilities. The Proxima server allows the integration of Heavy M and offers four video outputs, thus perfectly meeting our needs.
